why not put a kick plate on each side and bolt thru. with these fasteners that screw into each other and they will flush off on each side it will look o k also. you can purchase the fasteners at lowes or the depot. You duct tape one side on 1st then drill thru holes all the way thru door then bolt it on. Done. How do I repair the bottom of an exterior door where the wood is splitting?
If isn't too bad clamp and glue it. There are lots of fast drying epoxys on the market so it wont take long to set. A quick easy fix if it is on the bottom is to add a door kick plate.
Wedge the split open a little, work some wood glue in and clamp until the glue cures (about 2 hours).
GLUE on a kickplate! Use epoxy glue and small screws or nails around the edges to keep it in place while the glue cures.
