I am obviously not intending to cut the capsule in half, but was planning on taking out half of the contents and just eating them with some apple sauce, and taking the capsule with the remaining prescription tomorrow.

Not at all. The capsule pretty much disolves immediately anyway. It's the beads themselves that are time release. Half are designed to dissolve immediately and the other half, 4 hours later. I always split up time releases and it still lasts just as long.

Yes it will ruin the release mechanism. The release mechanism is controlled by the capsule. Do not open it and take it, you can switch to the tablets if you want to eat it with apple sauce. You will just have to dose the tablets multiple times a day depending on your needs.

Cutting it will make it irrelivent, you may as well take an ordinary tablet
