I live here and don't like the Idea of splitting Its my home and my family's for hundreds of years are they crazy.What is it about the state of Florida splitting and why?

It is yet another boneheaded proposal which comes up at least once very 2-4 years in the banana republic of FL. I heard it too, it was on every news station down here. WSVN, WFOR, WPLG.


While the South seems to pay more in terms of taxes, they are getting less in terms of services. So for example, Miami Dade got less money for education than northern FL but has a higher population It will blow over the same way it always has.

Its not going to happen, I am originally from the northern part and now attend college in the southern part - very different lifestyles and very different perspectives, some people think they should be split. Some of the southern counties feel they are not getting a fair shake but Florida has too much power as a state to split, we are one of the nations biggest states and with that comes power, this state will remain intact.
The main concern is that Southern Florida receives such a small percent of the tax benefits statewide compared to the huge percent they pay. The Northern part appears to get all the benefits.





The proposal would create North and South Florida, like the Carolinas. The people are not that crazy.
Holy crap! I was not aware of this. I just looked it up. Why is this not getting more national attention? I feel this would not be good for Florida or for our country.





What are we supposed to do -- add another star to the U.S. flag? It's lunacy.





I hope that the people of Florida take this seriously and fight to keep it whole.
