When baking stuffed bread, how do you keep it from splitting?

I get a sharp, *serrated* knife and I make three diagonal slices across the bread, about 1/4-inch deep or more.

Hopefully (but not always) these will prevent the bread from splitting along the side when it bakes.

It's mostly a cosmetic issue. :)When baking stuffed bread, how do you keep it from splitting?
Good Luck.

Hope it works! :)

dont add to much flour, dont over knead, and dont have your oven too hot.
Check your oven temperature with a thermometer to make sure it is accurate. Do not overbake the bread...that is what causes it to split and the stuffing to leak out.
When doing the final shaping of the loaf, pull all ends to the underside and place in the pan to rise. This will give you a smooth contiguous top and should prevent splitting. (and like all the others say, don't overstuff it)
Don't overstuff it. The filling will swell from the heat, and if you packed it jam-up full, it will overflow OR split the bread. Maybe fill it 3/4 full.
