Would splitting Iraq into four different religious regions stops most of the fighting?

Would spliting iraq into four different regions or countries stop most of the fighting amoungst the locals in iraq.Split the religious factions up and give them there own areas and there own goverments.Would splitting Iraq into four different religious regions stops most of the fighting?
You will then have the problem of who gets what.

Some regions have oil, Some have fertile land, Some have mineral deposits. Some have a little of everything. Some have absolutely nothing of value.

Who gets what and how much? Who decides?Would splitting Iraq into four different religious regions stops most of the fighting?
Others have pointed out various problems in just setting up the various regions.

But even if we got past all that, none of the new smaller states would really be big enought to stand alone; and would have possibly 3 immediate enemies very close. They would search for alliances with nearby countries, of which that would mostly be Iran (mostly Shiite) and Saudi Arabia (mostly Sunni).

And if even one of those regions started getting a little uppity and wound up starting a war with one of the other regions; it almost certainly would turn into a regional fight with Saudi Arabia and Iran on opposite sides. Then other nations in the area would side with one or the other and you have a huge regional war.

And most likely, because of the necessity of all that oil, it would eventually become a World War as other countries stepped in to protect their own interests and/or allies.
The whole problem with that part of the world is that the countries were arbitrarily split up. Splitting it up more wouldn't really work out. Also southern Iraq and norther saudi arabia would be better off as its own country.....saudis wouldn't be happy with that. America likes saudi arabia. Splitting up iraq to would allow something like that to become something realistic.

And yeah, there is sorta gray areas i guess......you could infinitely divide it into smaller sections and people would still be unhappy. Different religions, different cultures.

Not accusing you of this, but most people think there is 1 culture in that entire part of the world. We can see here in the U.S. how people form different states are soo different.
Probably not. Just like Palestine and Israel continue to battle of territory it would be impossible to split that land into sections that would satisfy everyone. Remember that they have lived in that land for thousands of years, not the few generations we have here, and they have histories stretching back even farther into history. There just isn't any way one religion or sect would give up part of their land to another sect or religion no matter what they got out of it. And these people have been fighting each other for thousands of years too so it isn't something they are ready to just stop. You had a wonderful thought but the reality of life over there just wouldn't let it work.
No. For starters, so many of the religious regions overlap each other. It's not like they are seperated with all in different corners of the country. Plus, we are also trying to promote religious tolerance. Dividing them based on religion would only undermine what we are trying to do over there.

What do you think?
No because the land we know as Jerusaluem is known to all 4 religions as the ';holy land'; and they arent going to share...
It wouldn't help it would bring them to the ground which in retrospect isn't such a bad idea.......
Lol no. They've been fighting before jesus. There's nothing we can do to solve this, that doesn't involve genocide.
no, border disputes will continue. That area of the world will never be peaceful
