How can i cook dry beans without them splitting?

Everytime i cook dry beans, they end up split open and not pretty. I soak them overnight, and simmer them in fresh water for a bit until tender. What am i doing wrong? How can i cook dry beans without them splitting?
either the beans are too old or you cook them too long or you don't use enough water to cook them in , check the date of packaging on the bag . Add a pinch of baking soda to the water while cooking

I never bother to soak the beans before tossing them and the water into the crock pot. But then too always only add boiling water to simmering bean pot or they will split like you say. And pinto beans will turn dark brown if cold water is tossed into simmering pot.

Pretty? I want mine to turn to mush so I can have bean soup in less than 3 days of cooking them.

Also I always use only distilled water to cook them in. and never put salt in until they are nearly done.
What type of beans do you use? Some are more prone to splitting. Also, I've found that they are more likely to split when I cook them for too long or boil them too long before a quick soak.
what i do is soak them over night and then in the morning put them in a pressure cooker they taste great (depends on what u put it with)
